margAI was born under the motto "art, technology and senses" to shape the digital proposals developed by the artist Miren Karmele Gomez Garmendia (SinesK). Through her synesthesia, she makes us participate in her inherent augmented reality shown in unique digital works. Margai offers a special and personal look at events and presentations by offering live artistic pieces created in virtual reality.
Synaesthesia is an unusual and intriguing condition sometimes described as a 'mixing of the senses'. People with synaesthesia have experiences in which their senses appear to be connected. While some synaesthetes associate letters, days of the week, or months of the year with colours, others feel a taste on their tongue when they say a word, or experience vivid sensations that incorporate colours, shapes, textures and movement in response to hearing music. Synaesthesia is different from normal memories or associations because the sensations experienced are automatic and involuntary, and are largely consistent over time. The current estimates are that 2-5% of people have synaesthetic experiences. [Source: An Institute of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science].
